Part 1.
When most people think of pets, they probably picture dogs or cats, or
maybe fish. But the number of people who think of tortoises is likely small.
Tortoises are quiet, attractive, hearty, and easy to care for. On top of
that, they're relatively small and shed no fur. But best of all, due to their
long lifespan, they're excellent lifetime pets.
Most tortoises are docile and rather shy. 'The only exception to this is if
two males are together. When this happens, the two males could become
aggressive and even attack each other. Despite their 'calm demeanor.
picking up and handling tortoises 8 is not advisable. Doing SO can cause
the tortoise stress, which often leads to illness if the stressful situation persists.
part 2.
Tortoises can present challenges due to their size and dietary habits.
Diets vary based on species, but all tortoises need 'a variety of foods. In
particular. it's important to balance the vitamins and minerals in their food.
Some species have voracious appetites and therefore need a large
amount of food.
'The biggest drawback to having a tortoise as a pet is its long lifespan.
Some tortoises can live for up to 80 years. That is sthe equivalent to
how long average humans live. That means you'll need to establish plans
for caring for your pet tortoise in its old age.
