Part 1.
Reading aloud offers many benefits when learning a language. For starters,
it helps people become engrossed with the story. When this happens,
2 they may forget their surroundings and experience a sense of time
distorion. In other words, they 3lose track of time. This altered state
supports active and deeper learning.

Reading aloud also helps learners "develop good listening habits. The
ability to be a good listener is often underappreciated in today's hectic
world. Active listening forters contemplation and reflection. Without
these important skills, students may gather information, but 'fail to gain
knowledge. So reading aloud improves listening, which improves learning.

Part 2.

In addition, reading aloud helps teachers assess students' comprehension.
One of the most basic tests of comprehension is to ask someone to read
aloud from a book. This task reveals more than whether the reader merely
understands the words. Instead, it reveals 3how deeply the reader
understands the ideas that "the words are conveying. Reading aloud
captures the reality of words.

Finally, reading aloud helps students 5learn how to use language to
make sense of the world. It improves their information processing
skills, their vocabulary, and their comprehension. It helps them grasp the
bigger picture by anticipating variables that can't be discerned when just readinf silently.
